This event offers professional development workshops to Louisiana's finest Social Studies Teachers through an annual conference that begins with Registration and a Welcome Reception on Sunday, October 21 and continues with registration, an opening morning session, and a full day of workshop sessions, Monday, October 22; and, culminates with a half-day of workshop sessions, Tuesday, October 23. Throughout the event, attendees are invited to partake in the rich history, culture, and excitement Baton Rouge has to offer at our various restaurants, museums, casinos, etc.

Keynote Speaker James Percoco, nationally recognized history educator with over thirty-three years of service to American education. His books A Passion for the Past: Creative Teaching of US History and Divided We Stand: Teaching About Conflict in US History are staples in collegiate social studies methods courses across the United States. Percoco has pioneered the combination of public education with public history utilizing public history opportunities throughout his curriculum.
