Children as Civic Actors: Towards Social Studies Environments that Support Embodied Civic Experiences
Public schools must be sites of civic practice where students can experiment with civic action. In this session we argue for seeing children as being civic actors and embodying civic action. Participants will view videos of civic actors and discuss what kinds of school contexts make such civic action possible.
