1. Registering and Signing In

Q: How do I register for the #NCSS2020 Virtual Conference?

A: Register for the #NCSS2020 Virtual Conference by going to socialstudies.org/conference. Click the red “Register now” button to begin the registration process. Once you’ve successfully paid for the registration, you’re all set to enjoy the largest three-day gathering of social studies educators, administrators, and specialists.

Q: How do I sign in to the #NCSS2020 Virtual Conference?

A: All attendees will receive a link via email to access the #NCSS2020 Virtual Conference platform. To sign in to the Virtual Conference website, click the link provided to you, then enter the email address and the NCSS password provided to you in your registration confirmation.

2. Building Your Schedule

Q: How do I preview #NCSS2020 Sessions?

A: Prior to the conference:

  • Navigate to socialstudies.org/conference.
  • Scroll down to the section titled “NCSS Brings the Annual Conference to You.”
  • Click “See the preliminary list of sessions” at the bottom of the section.

During the conference:

  • Navigate to the NCSS Conference website.
  • Click the “Sessions Lobby” button on either the navigation bar at the top or the poster stand in the #NCSS2020 lobby.
  • Click “View the Full Schedule” in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

Using the #NCSS2020 Virtual Conference App:

  • Navigate to the NCSS Conference App.
  • Tap “Schedule” via the navigation bar at the bottom.
  • To view sessions by day, tap “View Schedule by Day.”
  • To view National Council for the Social Studies Sessions, tap “NCSS Sessions.”
  • To view National Council for Geographic Education Sessions, tap “NCGE Sessions.”
  • To view National Law Relation Education Sessions, tap “NLRE Sessions.”

Q: How do I find keynote session times?

A: Prior to the conference:

  • Navigate to socialstudies.org/conference.
  • Scroll down to the section titled “NCSS Brings the Annual Conference to You.”
  • Expand the “Schedule Overview” section to see the full schedule of keynote speakers.

During the conference:

  • Navigate to the NCSS Conference website.
  • Click the “Sessions Lobby” button on either the navigation bar at the top or the poster stand in the #NCSS2020 lobby.
  • Click “View the Full Schedule” in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

Using the #NCSS2020 Virtual Conference App:

  • Navigate to the NCSS Conference App.
  • Tap “Schedule” via the navigation bar at the bottom.
  • Tap “Conference Speakers” to view the list of keynote sessions.

3. Accessing Sessions, Keynotes, Exhibits, and On-Demand Videos

Q: How can I access and join #NCSS2020 Sessions?

A: Here's how:

  • Navigate to the NCSS Conference website.
  • Click the “Sessions Lobby” button on either the navigation bar at the top or the poster stand in the #NCSS2020 lobby.
  • Find the session you are interested in attending by scrolling left or right in the sessions lobby.

Q: How can I access and join #NCSS2020 Keynotes?

A: Here's how:

  • Navigate to the NCSS Conference website.
  • Click the “Sessions Lobby” button on either the navigation bar at the top or the poster stand in the #NCSS2020 lobby.
  • Keynote sessions will be on the “Main Stage” when available.

Q: How can I access the Exhibit Hall?

A: Here's how:

  • Navigate to the NCSS Conference website.
  • Click the “Exhibition Hall” button on either the navigation bar at the top or the poster stand in the #NCSS2020 lobby.

Q: How can I access sessions after the conference?

A: Conference sessions will be available on-demand until April 30, 2021. To view On-Demand videos:

  • Navigate to the NCSS Conference website.
  • Click the “On Demand Video” button on the navigation bar at the top.

4. Technical Assistance

Q: How do I reset my password?

A: On the login screen, click “forgot password” above the sign-in button. This will send password reset instructions directly to your email address.

Q: I can't access the Virtual Conference Website.

You may not be able to access the Virtual Conference Website for one of the following reasons:

  • You are attempting to log in with an email address that is not registered to the conference.
  • You are not registered for the conference.
  • Your email and password are already logged in on another device.

For issues related to the first two bullet points, please contact us directly via conference@ncss.org.

For issues related to the third bullet point, please log out from the other device and re-attempt to login.

Q: I can't access a session.

A: If you can’t access a session, click the “Event Support” button in the bottom right-hand corner of the #NCSS2020 Virtual Conference website. Our live support staff will assist you with any technical issues you may be having. In addition, live sessions will occur in external Zoom rooms.  If you don’t see a session playing in the video player, click the Zoom link above the video player to join the session.

Q: I can't access a keynote session.

A: If you can’t access a keynote, click the “Event Support” button in the bottom right-hand corner of the #NCSS2020 Virtual Conference website.

5. Conference Micro-sites

Q: What can I access with my conference registration? How do I access other micro-sites?

A: The conference spans four different micro-sites:

  1. National Council for the Social Studies
  2. National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE)/ National Law-Related Education (NLRE)
  3. National Social Studies Supervisors Association (NSSSA)/International Assembly (IA)
  4. College and University Faculty Assembly (CUFA)

Your registration covers access to both NCSS and NCGE/NLRE. You must be registered for NSSSA, IA, or CUFA to access their micro-sites.
