SOCIAL STUDIES AND THE YOUNG LEARNER, the peer-reviewed NCSS journal especially for grade K-6 teachers, is seeking manuscripts. We are seeking any sort of social studies lesson activity: "The theme of any issue is open," says Editor Scott Waring. Read the guidelines for authors at http://www.socialstudies.org/publications/ssyl. Then send outlines for article ideas, or full manuscripts, to Editor Scott Waring at ssyl@ncss.org.

The 98th NCSS Annual Conference will be held in Chicago, Nov. 30-Dec 2, 2018. NCSS invites you to submit a proposal to present a session and/or to review presentation proposals for selection by the program planning committee. Who we teach, what we teach, and how we teach are the bedrock issues of social studies education. Thoughtful discussion and collegial exchange devoted to these issues can only make the profession stronger. Please visit this webpage to learn more: http://proposals.socialstudies.org/openconf.php. Deadline is February 26, 2018.
