Silver Spring, Md. – June 30, 2009 – Susan (Sue) J. Blanchette, a high school teacher at Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas, has been elected Vice President of the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), the nation’s largest professional organization for social studies educators. Blanchette will begin her 2009-10 term effective July 1, 2009. She is in line to become NCSS President in 2011-12.

Silver Spring – July 1, 2009 – The National Council for the Social Studies is pleased to announce that Sydele E. (Syd) Golston, an Arizona school administrator and former classroom teacher at the secondary and post-secondary level for over 30 years, will begin a 12-month term as President of NCSS on July 1.
