NCSS is seeking an education programs manager to join our team. This position supports the NCSS year-round professional learning program for K-16 social studies professionals. The primary responsibilities are to coordinate webinars, institutes, meetings, podcasts, and other educational offerings. The successful candidate will identify and manage independent consultants and vendors in relation to these events. This position reports to the Director of Events and will serve as a contact for onsite conference registration and logistics, presenters, exhibitors, and other NCSS departments. 


FLSA Status: Exempt, Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Summary

The successful candidate will identify and manage independent consultants and vendors in relation to these events. This position reports to the Director of Events and will serve as a contact for onsite conference registration and logistics, presenters, exhibitors, and other NCSS departments. Additional duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Professional Learning Programs

  • Design, implement, and manage all aspects of educational programming for NCSS, including workshops, institutes, meetings, webinars and online learning, podcasting, and grant-funded programs.
  • Coordinate all assigned and independent contracted consultants to lead NCSS professional learning. 
  • Negotiate agreements, prepare contracts, schedule locations, and process registrations for NCSS events. 
  • Develop and host workshops and institutes.
  • Develop and host webinar and online learning programs, including editing, moderation, and technical assistance.
  • Prepare and maintain event statistical reports for the Director of Events.
  • Curate the NCSS On-Demand Library with the Digital Marketing Manager to archive workshops, webinars, podcasts, and institutes.

Annual Conference

  • Serve as the primary contact for session presenters and attendees.
  • Provide logistical coordination (e.g., supporting pre- and on-site registration, handling on-site volunteers) and post-event reporting and reconciliation.
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing copy for the Annual Conference Program and Exhibit Guide.
  • Attend event planning meetings as requested.
  • Provide administrative support for mailings, communication, travel schedules, general correspondence, etc. Recognition Programs • Manage the call for applications, nominations, and selections for NCSS award, grant, and scholarship recognition for the NCSS Annual Conference. • Communicate with award, grant, and scholarship applicants and recipients. • Represent NCSS staff on the Awards Committee. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Education, Communications, or related field. 
  • 3-5 years’ experience in program administration, event planning, and/or association-chapter relations management.
  • K-12 social studies teaching and instructional design experience, and certification, is a plus.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and efficiently under deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of website management/editing; knowledge of online presentation programs is desired. 
  • Knowledge of automated office systems, general office policies and procedures, and filing systems.
