Powerful Learning Within Historical Tensions

Powerful Learning Within Historical Tensions

Civics and history education has become the latest fault line in an increasingly expansive culture war. 28 state legislatures have seen anti-Critical Race Theory laws introduced and 12 have seen them pass. While there is a range of how these laws manifest, a common thread is an aversion to what are perceived as controversial issues. Join members of the Educating for American Democracy community to discuss how the framing of the Roadmap’s 5 Design Challenges can help educators engage in more complete learning experiences that provide students meaningful opportunities to build muscle in civil disagreement, historical thinking and civic friendship.
