Joy D. Lindsey is Deputy Executive Director for the National Council of the Social Studies. She assists in overseeing administrative operations, programs, and services and leads strategy development for branding, communications, and membership recruitment, engagement, and retention. Her career spans management and leadership roles for nonprofit and for-profit organizations including Cox Media, the National Association of Broadcasters, and National PTA. She has also taught communications and advertising on a university level. 

Joy received a M.S. in Advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, and a B.S. in Mass Communications from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS. She is the proud daughter of two retired social studies educators.
