In a webinar supported by AMLE (the Association for Middle Level Education) and NCSS, Michael Yell (National Board Certified Teacher - Middle School) will lead participants in examining 10 engaging, thought-provoking strategies for creating a different kind of middle level social studies classroom. The tools and strategies will include practical methods for engaging students in inquiry about content; in developing their inferences and hypotheses, predicting, making meaning from texts/authentic sources/video and or streaming clips; and in synthesizing information from reading materials. The strategies are applicable to any content and are important tools to meet and exceed the expectations of the Common Core and the "College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for State Social Studies Standards.
