Teens Dream Video Competition (about the UN's 17 Sustainability Goals)

Teens Dream Video Competition (about the UN's 17 Sustainability Goals)

Middle and high school students can enter the Teens Dream Video Competition with a 2-minute video of their dream as it relates to one of the 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). See the colorful descriptions at sustainabledevelopment.un.org/sdgs.
In the fall of 2017, educate your students about the UN and how it is working collaboratively with stakeholder groups around the world that include youth. Then invite them to create a short video. You and your students can visit www.teensdreamcolab.org to learn how teens can earn up to $500 and have a chance to travel to Washington, D.C. to be honored and matched with a mentor organization around their dream.  See the rap promo video, winning videos from past competitions, and runners up. Encourage students to utilize the Teen Media Production Group to help with video submissions. Video Competition launches September 29, 2017 with deadline January 5, 2018 -- but TSSP is alerting you about this competition now, in late spring and summer 2017, so that you can begin planning related activities and lessons if you wish.
For those interested teens with extra energy, consider encouraging them to volunteer with Teens Dream to launch virtual Dream Hubs, where teens connect with other teens and mentors around one of the SDGs.
The parent organization, Global Co Lab Network, was created by NCSS member Linda Staheli. Visit www.globalcolab.net, and read her interview with TSSP (https://www.socialstudies.org/tssp/news/global-co-lab-network-your-students-and-sustainability).

Deadline Date:
