The Rho Kappa Chapter at Academy of Our Lady in Marrero, Louisiana, adopted the Wounded Warrior Organization for their service project during the 2016-2017 school year. Mrs. Rose Bourque, chapter advisor, chose to help Wounded Warriors because such a large number of the student body has a connection to someone who has been deployed or is on active duty now. Each Rho Kappa member was assigned a homeroom and decorated a small Mason jar with a patriotic theme. Each academic quarter, students were asked to donate a quarter (25 cents) to the project. The Quarters for Quarters campaign was a huge success! Last April, at a school assembly, they were able to present a check for $500 to a representative from the Wounded Warrior Organization. The student body was very impressed that such a small personal donation could add up to make such a big difference in the end. The chapter is continuing the service project this school year, and after the first quarter, they are well ahead of their projected goal.
