Tragic Loss of Innocent Lives Affects Us All

The tragic loss of innocent lives that is taking place in too many schools around the country touches all of us every day. Yesterday, it directly touched Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and our Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society chapter in Broward County, Florida.

“As educators, our first responsibility is with the students we teach,” said NCSS President Terry Cherry. "The time is now for citizens, students, and legislators to work towards solutions to stop school violence. Necessary changes are needed to protect students so they can feel safe while preparing for college, career and civic life."

“We share our thoughts and prayers with Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students, families, educators, and the Broward County community as they face this terrible tragedy,” said NCSS Executive Director Lawrence M. Paska.
