NCSS Launches 2018-2019 Podcasts! 

 


Visions of Education podcast has agreed to feature articles published in NCSS journals, including Social Studies and the Young Learner, Middle Level Learning, Social Education, and Theory and Research in Social Education. The podcast is a joint venture between two leaders in the #sschat network, education professor Dan Krutka (@dankrutka) and high school teacher Michael Milton (@42thinkdeep). Dan and Michael have been exploring big ideas in education since 2016. You can find previous episodes on their site (https://visionsofed.com/). This week's podcast features Erica Hodgin and Joseph Kahne on the topic of Teaching Against Misinformation. (Listen here)
NCSS Member Spotlight: Monte-Sano Discusses Disciplinary Literacy
Chauncey Monte-Sano is the founder and co-director of Read.Inquire.Write., an associate professor of Educational Studies at the University of Michigan, and a proud member of NCSS! Monte-Sano shares her thoughts on disciplinary literacy and why writing is so important in social studies classrooms. The "Bells of Peace" campaign calls for a national bell tolling across the country at 11:00 AM on November 11th, to mark the centennial of the end of World War I. Kenneth C. Davis has appeared on CNN, Today, Fox & Friends, CBS This Morning, and numerous radio shows, including NPR's "All Things Considered," "Diane Rehm Show," and "Here & Now."
