Dr. Joseph Feinberg, recently elected to the NCSS Board of Directors, attended his first NCSS Annual Conference in San Antonio in 2001. "I vividly recall hearing Gerta Wessman Klein speak about surviving the Holocaust," he says. He hasn't missed an Annual Conference in 18 years since. Feinberg is an associate professor of social studies education at Georgia State University, where he focuses on preservice teachers and doctoral students. (Read more)

Fred Mednick to Speak at the NCSS Annual Conference
A former English teacher and high-school principal, Fred Mednick fired himself in 2000 and founded Teachers Without Borders (TWB). Their mission is to connect teachers to information and each other so they can close the education divide. TWB's network now spans 177 countries.
