Director of Communications
Ana Post is a senior staff member whose role is to build a shared vision and voice for social studies education in the United States and globally. Her primary responsibilities are in the areas of public and government relations and legislative advocacy. Ana uses her institutional knowledge and understanding of synergies between NCSS, internal and external groups to guide her work in raising the visibility and promoting understanding of NCSS and the social studies profession. She is NCSS’s media point of contact, develops and issues all NCSS press releases and public relations communications in print and digital media. She also develops and monitors a legislative advocacy program (including an annual Legislative Institute), and maintains an online Advocacy Toolkit for general member use.
Ana served as the 2016-17 DC Bilingual Elementary School PTA Communications chair and continues to support the school’s mission: implementing an innovative, rigorous dual immersion Spanish and English learning program with comprehensive arts, technology, and athletics components, that celebrates cultural diversity and prepares students with the skills and values they need to become global leaders.
Ana received a B.A. in Economics from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, and an M.A. in Education Policy Studies from George Washington University, Washington, DC. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband Jan, and son Mateo (10). She enjoys gardening, photography, honing her Dutch language skills, and trying out healthy-delicious new recipes.
