NCSS Board Election Results Are In!

picture_sue2007.jpgSue Blanchette, US. history teacher at Hillcrest High School in Dallas Texas was elected vice-president of NCSS. As vice president, Blanchette is in line to assume the NCSS presidency July 2011.

Blanchette is concluding a term on the NCSS board of directors, and is an active member of the Texas Council for the Social Studies was 2002-2003 president of the Texas Council for the Social Studies. Among her many leadership roles in NCSS and affiliate councils, Blanchette served as co-chair of the NCSS Nominations Committee, chaired the Texas state conference when it was held in Dallas, and is three-time president of the Dallas CSS.

NCSS membership also selected candidates to three-year terms on the NCSS Board of Directors: Karen Burgard, Blue Springs MO (Secondary Teacher Representative); Roxanna Mechem, Union, MO (Supervisor Representative); Jack Wilson, Eureka, MO (K-12 Teacher At-Large); and Michelle Herczog, Culver City, CA (At-Large). Members also elected Donald Gilmore, Denver, CO to the board of the Fund for the Advancement of Social Studies Education (FASSE.)
