NEH Summer Institute for Teachers: Religious Worlds of New York

This three-week institute, sponsored by the Interfaith Center of New York and Union Theological Seminary, will meet from July 16th to August 3rd, 2012. It will help public, private, and parochial school teachers teach more effectively about American religious diversity by

• distinguishing academic from devotional approaches to the study of religion;
• introducing participants to six religious traditions in the United States;
• helping them teach students about contemporary “lived religion,” alongside the conventional “world religions” curriculum.
