Living on the Edge of Empire occurs in Deerfield, Massachusetts twice: July 7 to July 12, 2013 and July 28 to August 2, 2013. This K-12 teacher workshop places the 1704 French and Native American Raid on Deerfield in the context of the history of colonial New England.
Explore global issues while considering ways this history can offer a compelling entry point for teaching the complexities of the early American colonial period and the many cultural groups who comprised it –Native nations, enslaved Africans, the French and English settlers.
