The American Sociological Association
is hosting a conference for High School
sociology teachers at its annual meeting
in Las Vegas from August 19–20, 2011.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Barbara Petzen,
speaking on “The Realities and Stereotypes
of Teaching Minority Cultures.” The con-
ference will include a panel on “Preparing
Students for the Successful Transition to
College Sociology Courses.” Roundtables
involve effective lesson plans and inno-
vative technological resources for high
school. There is a special rate for high
school educators - just $100. More infor-
