“Made in Washington” – how a decision or policy of the federal government impacts your local community -- is the theme of a new high school and middle school student-generated video competition. The social studies related competition is being organized by the.News, a noncommercial digital news broadcast and interactive online website being developed for middle and high school students and their teachers by MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, producers of The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.
The “Made in Washington” video competition will give students the opportunity to create up to five minute video reports. Along with prizes, top videos in each category will be posted on the national the.News website. The deadline for entries is March 31, 2009. Details about the competition are available at the.News website at http://www.pbs.org/newshour/thenews/youreport/index.php .
