NCSS Voices Social Studies Agenda in Welcome Letter to 111th Congress

This week, NCSS President Mike Yell and Executive Director Susan Griffin voiced the social studies agenda in the attached "Welcome Letter" that went out to every member of the new Congress. Topics included the role of the social studies in creating effective citizens and imparting 21st Century skills, adequate funding for programs of importance to social studies educators and the need to address unintended consequences for the social studies during the reauthorization of NCLB.

Having introduced the interests and concerns of social studies educators to the 111th Congress, NCSS looks forward to following up during advocacy efforts in the coming months.
