The Nation’s Report Card: Geography 2010, Grades 4, 8, and 12
Please join the National Assessment Governing Board on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. EDT for a live webinar to release the results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Geography 2010, Grades, 4, 8, and 12. The 2010 Report Card will include the latest data on students’ knowledge of geography in the context of space and place, environment and society, and spatial dynamics and connections.
Jack Buckley, commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics, will present the data. He will be joined by expert panelists including Roger Downs, professor of geography, Pennsylvania State University; Shannon Garrison, National Assessment Governing Board, and fourth grade teacher, Solano Avenue Elementary School in Los Angeles; and David Gordon, member, National Assessment Governing Board, and superintendent of schools, Sacramento County Office of Education (webinar moderator).
This is only the third time in nearly two decades that The Nation’s Report Card has assessed students on their knowledge in geography. The 2010 results can be compared to results from 2001 and 1994.
