The University of Toledo, with funding from the U.S. Department of Education, is sponsoring a seminar in South Africa and Lesotho in July 2011. Designed for teachers of social studies and art, the focus is on the integration of art and social studies with an emphasis on Sesotho art and politics.
Participants will meet with African professors, artists, politicians, and community activists; work with African students and teachers; and design and publish curriculum units.
Seminar members pay $895 of program costs of over $8000 per person, plus personal expenses and costs to attending two seminars in Toledo. Information and applications (due January 20, 2011) are available at www.utoledo.edu/as/ids/global/Africaindex.html [1] or from Prof. Mark Denham, Mark.Denham@UToledo.edu [2]
