AdvocacyNational Council for the Social Studies supports and advocates social studies education with the goal of creating effective citizens in an interdependent world.
The situation described below has improved as of March 20, 2008, because the Presidents FY 09 budget included money needed for all subjects. The money has yet to be appropriated, and educators would like to see the pilots done with larger samples that would facilitate some comparisons in the social studies subjects tested. NCSS will keep you informed on the issue through the Advocacy webpages and in The Social Studies Professional newsletter.
