2013 NCSS Annual Conference

Proposal Reviewer Sign-Up

Thank you for agreeing to be a reviewer.

Any NCSS member can become a reviewer. This invitation includes members submitting proposals for next year's conference. You do not need to have attended a conference in the past to review proposals.

As a reviewer, you will read and rate between 10 and 15 proposals submitted for the 2012 conference. We will try to match the proposals you read to your main area of interest. You will work online at home or your workplace. Most reviewers complete their reviews in one sitting. Reviewing will take place in early March.

Past reviewers report that reviewing is easy, interesting, and even enjoyable. Many say they have become better proposal writers after reviewing other people's work. Others find satisfaction in helping the Conference Planning Committee create a program that reflects the needs and interests of the entire NCSS membership.

In February, we will send instructions on next steps, to help you work through the review process. After the proposal deadline, you will receive your assignments. You will have about two weeks to read and rate between 10 and 15 proposals. All reviews are blind, which means you will not know who submitted the proposals you read. Each proposal is reviewed by at least three reviewers, and their scores are then combined for an overall rating. The Conference Planning Committee makes a final selection from the top-rated proposals.

To volunteer, please complete the form below. Tell us which discipline(s) audience level(s) you’d most like to work with.
