Tuesday, June 25

Arrival in Casablanca

Upon arrival in Casablanca, you will check into the Idou Anfa Hotel, situated in the heart of the city and offering a fantastic view of the Hassan II Mosque. Dinner is at Rick's Cafe, the mythical saloon from the 1942 film that has been transformed into wood, glass and plaster. Set in an old courtyard-style mansion built against the walls of the Old Medina, the restaurant-piano bar is filled with details reminiscent of the film.

Wednesday, June 26

Travel to Rabat and Fez

You will board the buses after breakfast and travel to Rabat, the national capital and UNESCO World Heritage site. There you will visit the spectacular Mohamed V Mausoleum and Hassan Tower, built in 1195. After lunch, you will depart for Fez and arrive in time for the conference welcome and opening dinner at the conference hotel, the Royal Mirage Hotel.

Thursday, June 27

Conference Day One

After a delicious breakfast buffet, the conference sessions will begin in the hotel meeting rooms. The first morning will consist of both plenary and breakout sessions divided by several coffee breaks with Moroccan pastries, coffee and delicious mint tea. Following lunch in the hotel, you will board touring buses to travel into the countryside for an afternoon excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Volubilis (Roman ruins about 45 minutes from Fez). After walking the footsteps of the ancient Romans, you travel back to the hotel in Fez for some free time to explore on your own. Guides and materials will be waiting to help you find your way.

Friday, June 28

Conference Day Two

Your second day in Fez will begin after breakfast with more sessions in the morning and another delicious lunch provided on site. The afternoon field trip will take you to modern and art deco Fez with visits to Moroccan schools. School visits will include discussions with Moroccan educators and students to learn about their education system. Your conference day will end with travel back to the hotel for time on your own to rest and relax or continue your immersion in Moroccan culture on your own. Guides and materials will be waiting to help you find your way.

Saturday, June 29

Conference Day Three

The final day of the conference will be very special. After morning sessions in the hotel, you will join a small group excursion into the UNESCO World Heritage site of Medina of Fez. The ancient twisting streets and thriving hustle of the residents will transport you back to a life that is reminiscent of its founding in 192 A.D. Your tour of this holy city will include the world famous tanneries where traditional leatherwork is still practiced. You will also experience the many souks and fondouks of the city, and visit the world’s first university, established in the 9th century. Your amazing day will end with a closing dinner in a historic Fez restaurant in the middle of the Medina that was the historic site for the signing of the French Protectorate in 1912.

Sunday, June 30

Travel to Casablanca

Shortly after breakfast you will board the touring bus for direct travel back to Casablanca. You have one last evening for last-minute shopping, and guides and materials will help you find your way.

Monday, July 1

Fly Home

Flights for the US depart early in the morning so we will have transportation ready for you with guides to assist you to the airport.

Your first and last nights of the conference will be spent here, providing a great base to explore this fascinating city.
