NCSS Annual Conference
Consumer Advocate Ralph Nader’s address on Sunday, December 4, will be followed by a “Vital Issues Session.” Ruth Marcus and Michael Gerson of the Washington Post will debrief the elections and preview the civic challenges ahead. Veteran journalist Ray Suarez will serve as moderator.

President’s Message
Each state or region presents unique programming at its annual meeting, and the Texas Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference was no exception. NCSS President Peggy Jackson and new Executive Director Dr. Lawrence Paska attended and were inspired by both keynote speakers and attendees.

Lawrence Paska: A Reflection on Transitions
NCSS’s new executive director discusses the transition period—“a complicated time in which a highly visible individual establishes the ground rules for how business will be conducted going forward” in an association, a company, or a nation after an election.
