How do novice teachers find the time and resources to teach the social studies within the current educational paradigm? Moreover, in what ways does the culture of standardized testing effect the way in which practitioners value the social studies?These are the main questions addressed in this presentation. Teacher-participants considered the position of the social studies within their burgeoning ideas about curriculum and pedagogy.
